Practice Notes
Practice Guidelines
- Swimmers are expected to bring their goggles, towel, and sunscreen to practices.
- Swimmers should be at practice 10 minutes before their session is to begin. Swimmers are expected to attend and participate at each practice.
- Please reinforce the importance of attentiveness and respect to coaches’ instruction. If your child is at practice, they are required to practice. If they are not practicing, they will be asked to leave the pool area. There may be exceptions for injuries, etc.
- Swimmers should notify coaches at least one day in advance if they will be absent from practice or prior to the start of their session if they need to leave early.
- For liability reasons, friends and/or out of town guests are not allowed to participate in any team practices but are welcome at the pool during team practice.
- Practice consists of conditioning and stroke instruction.
- Practice will be held daily unless there is thunder and/or lightning. We will send a text alert if practice is canceled due to inclement weather. We will try to send the text as soon as possible, but may be waiting to see if weather clears up so notification may be as late as 10 minutes prior to practice. Please make sure you are signed up for the Swimtopia text notifications to receive any urgent updates.
- Parents are asked to refrain from interrupting the coaches or swimmers during practice. Practice times are vital to your child and the team’s success. You may contact a coach by email if you would like to discuss a specific issue (contact information available on swim team site under "About" and then "Meet the Coaches"). The coach will contact you as soon as possible.
