Swim season starts Monday!

Hi Parents!

Summer Swim is just around the corner, and I wanted to touch base about a few important items before the season starts. There is a lot of info below – please be sure to read each item thoroughly!😊

1. After school practices begin Monday, May 15.The practice schedule is as follows:

Shrimpers (6 & under): 3:45-4:15pm. It is mandatory that a parent/sitter remain on site for the duration of shrimper practice.

7–10-year-olds: 4:15-5:00pm

11 & up: 5:00-6:00pm

To celebrate the beginning of the season, we will have ice cream for all the swimmers!

2.Coach Ashlyn will go over team rules and expectations.  If your child is having a hard time listening and following guidelines, your swimmer will be asked to sit out and potentially leave practice.  We cannot allow some swimmers to detract from the experience of others.

3.Our movie night (5/19) has been canceled.  Marvin Elementary scheduled one for the same time/date, and since we have two additional meets this year, we opted to cancel this event.  If we can find time to get it rescheduled, we will!  If there is a parent who would like to help plan this event, please reach out to Meghan Zepsa.

4.Our volunteer coordinator will be out of the country for four meets. We need someone to step in for this position.  Please reach out if you are willing to help.  You can bring a friend and make it a two-person job, if you want!

5.Our Mock Meet is scheduled for June 1st. We will have a photographer there for individual and team pictures, so please wear your team suit! When the pictures are over, we will swim!  The purpose of this meet is to get times for each swimmer so we can enter everyone appropriately and accurately.

6.Our banquet date has moved. We will celebrate the team on June 27th. I need someone to help book the catering for this event.  I will handle awards and the DJ.  Please email me if you’re interested in helping with that.

7.The team goodie bag isn’t quite ready yet, but each swimmer will get a team t-shirt and cap (in addition to some other surprises!).  Each swimmer will get one free swim cap – if that one breaks or gets lost, additional caps are $5.

8.Please look at the schedule for the season below. It is imperative that you declare your swimmer before each meet.  We cannot accept last-minute cancellations!

9.We need a few parent volunteers to be present for the first week of practices. Please sign up here if you can be present at practice until 5pm to help the coaches.  Ashlyn might need help quieting the swimmers or getting caps on the younger ones.

Looking forward to a great season!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
