Last minute changes

Hello Marlins!

When you declare your swimmers attending a meet please be sure to make sure you can actually attend the meet.  Making last minute changes or a withdrawal from the meet should only be for unexpected illness or similar circumstances.  We have deadlines we have to meet for the Greater Charlotte Swim League rules about entries and changes.

We have had 10 emails so far this morning from people saying they can’t attend tonight even though they said they could.  We begin meet entries 3 days before the meet.   We have to be in communication with the opposing team, any changes made the other team also has to be aware of and approve, especially relays.  If our meet is away, all the changes are handled by the home team, not us. It’s not just a quick click of a button. These changes affect the timer lane sheets and heat sheets.  Handling meet entries is time consuming and extensive for 140 swimmers. If you declare attending for a meet you are expected to swim the events you are entered in on the heat sheet, please do not leave the meet prior to completing all of your events.  This is especially important if your swimmer is entered in a relay. Again, we have rules we have to abide by and if your swimmer doesn’t show up we may not be able to replace them and then we have to cancel the relay, which also affects 3 of your teammates events so please take that into consideration.

So even though this is summer swim recreational team and we want everyone to have fun, but we still have rules our team is expected to abide by being in the league.  It is a lot of time and energy for those of us who work many hours behind the scenes and beyond practices to make everything happen smoothly to have fun.  But we need your help to do it.

Thanks,

Angela
